I myself am a sound-to-color synesthete. I also have some taste/smell-to-color and an associated colored alphabet.
My favorite instrumental music to listen to is probably piano. The lower notes are a deep indigo color, the middle notes are a nice blue and the highest notes are like drops of turquoise. My favorite colored taste is apple juice, which is neon pink! Most of my smell colors are unpleasant. My favorite letter is 'A', since it's a really beautiful bright magenta color, or 'M', which is an nice mossy green (but lighter than 'N').
If you don't know what synesthesia is, or if you're not sure if you are a synesthete, here are a few great links. Feel free to ask any questions or just say hi!

I'm sort of colourblind, so I don't think I'll ever be a synesthete (as in stuff->color).
I do find it magnificently interesting, though. What are your dreams like? When you think of a number, does the environment change? |

| My dreams are like your dreams, I think, except that about 50% of the time sounds/voices/music in my dreams are colored. Sometimes the colors are wrong though, so when I'm dreaming lucidly that's unsettling. I once had a lucid dream where I was flying through the darkness past these huge block letters, but they were all the wrong colors. Like 'A' was purple with red squiggles on it and 'W' was blue and yellow polka-dotted. |

amtcj,
How interesting! Have you ever read the novel, Breathing in Color by Clare Jay? The author is a talented lucid dreamer, and one of the main novel characters is a synesthete. Here's a link to her website: http://www.clarejay.com/ I'm sure she would love to hear from you.
I'd enjoy hearing about any lucid dream where you consciously played around with sound to color in the dream. |

I am SO jealous.
though I do associate letters, numbers and words with colors, I don't really.. see it.
It's fun to see how your color alphabet is way different from my associated color alphabet. I also like to ask people what colors days of the week have, and compare the differences\.
I think the associations I have are left over from when I was a baby, since every human is born synesthetic. |

Is it true that every human is born like that? I wish I could still see those colours..the world would be so much beautiful with them around me... _________________ When I'm asleep do I really remember how to fly...and forget how when i wake up? Or I'm just dreaming i can fly? |
