Yes yes
Like I said it felt so real I didn't even want to stabilize. And when I opened a door, I felt wind rush in and blow on my skin. It's all perfect |

I have been LD 'ing for many years, (fairly infrequently), but all completely lucid, meaning that I am completely conscious and wide awake. All of these have been extraordinarily 'real' and with better than real life detail - enhanced detail. My initial reaction was to immediately study what my mind was capable of creating as I am very aware that it is creating the environment that I perceive. For instance, I have looked at detail within the substance of a wall, that my normal eyesight would not be capable of. I have learnt to stay under for longer by twirling and rubbing hands. It never ceases to amaze me what the mind is capable of creating, seemingly in real time. For instance when flying the landscapes are incredible and have perfect perspective, many times I have really been concerned that if I jump (off the cliff or whatever), that the dream really is a dream (and I know it is) due to the level of reality, it just feels so scary jumping that once or twice I couldn't do it. When I hit the ground I cringe as I suspect it will hurt, and in a sense I do feel the impact. One key issue that I have noticed is that the people in my dreams seem to have their own agenda - often I have tried engaging them, questioned them, or asked them to do things but normally get a blankish look and get ignored, once a guy answered back - and his answer took me by surprise ... so presumably my subconscious was still working behind my conscious and creating additional information.
I do think that their is much more to be learnt about how the mind actually works from LD.... after all it's a bit like having our mind modelled in a software system ... I've written a sketch on this called 'creation' http://www.commonsensebritain.co.uk/philos6.html and I think that philosophically it opens a wide discussion on what is sentience, and in future we may choose to 'live' in an unreal world, whether that is within our own mind a la LD or within a computer/virtual system? Wow thats really interesting :] And like you said with learning about our minds from lucid dreaming, we have a direct communication with the subconscious when were lucid so next lucid dream you have try to talk to your subconscious and ask it questions I was never able to do so cause i dont have many lucid dreams anymore(lost motivation) and i usually forget...
If you can lucid dream often please experiment with your subconscious and let us know the results till then im ganna try for another lucid dream :] |
