I know a person who once tried LD. He got into a convo with me about it... but soon it took a turn for the creepy.

He gave me a link (We talked online) To a site, and when I said I wouldnt go, he began talking about stuff like magic.
He claimed that Lucid dreaming and Dream recall were a mixture of witchcraft, calling for help from gods, and science.

Now, I know it's probably mumbo jumbo, but I just want some assurance. Is this guy psycho, or am I missing something here?

Sure, all of those things. All of those things inside the dream, and nothing to do with real life. It's all in your mind. But Lucid Dreaming can be associated with science. Trying to find out more about. There are items that can help you lucid dream. Calling gods for help...I guess if you believe in that, and believe that the answer you're getting are from gods, whatever. What's so bad about getting help from a higher being? I believe in God, and I think that he can speak to us inside our dreams and outside. But there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Why would that pose danger? Lucid Dreaming has nothing to do with witchcraft in the sense that it's not witchcraft when you practice being conscious in a dream. Don't worry about whatever that site is saying. I'd like a link to it, though, if you still have it. I want to laugh, you know?

i also believe in god.. im not a pure christian that goes to church every sunday.. but i pray to god at nights when i feel in the mood for an ld.. and i actually get one.. even if its a little THIS IS A DREAM! then i wake up... i still believe god has given me what i wanted
so theres nothing witchcrafty about lucid dreaming.. its a gift, a skill!

Modern fundamentalists will tell you anything is demonic if it's not covered in their belief system. So don't let those typical remarks discourage you- LDing is not demonic, nor evil. I myself have had a little over 50-60 lucid dreams that I have journaled here.

All things said are true, lightmajid...let them talk. Once a psychiatrist said to me that I had to be mentally ill if I had all those strange dreams and stuff...but, generally, I feel fine lol. Nothing to worry about, just keep your believes.

I would not say that your friend is psycho, he is just misinformed or had someone tell him that lucid dreaming was evil.

It is tied to science. There have been scientific study that prove lucid dreaming is real. This is not a BAD thing, it just is what it is.

Lucid dreaming is a far cry from witchcraft, however. It is a skill that is inside you, not some spell that you cast for evil intent outside of you. If you have a belief in God, you can pray for contact, for help in lucid dreaming, to pray to get a message from him in your dreams. I do this. Its not a bad thing! Dreams are a good place for God to speak to you if you are busy in your waking life and have a hard time listening to him then. Wink

People often fear the things that they do not understand, and it is often times easier to tout something as wrong or bad or evil than to study it further and learn that it is not an issue or a problem. If you have any doubts yourself, follow your gut. Pray on it yourself. See what answers you get, for you, personally, and follow and listen to that. It wont steer you wrong.

Good luck with things!

Lucid dreaming, although adopted by scientist and psychologists, originates from Buddhists and western occult groups, so it's no miracle that lucid dreaming is surrounded by all kind of myths and yet unexplained phenomena.

You also need a lesson in ignorance. Just because your friend mentions topics that you don't fully understand, don't jump to the word psycho to describe him.

For example, there is such a thing as good witchcraft, or paganism, which focuses on healing. Lucid dreams can really be attributed to anything supernatural since so little is known about them.
