Anyone here familiar with DMT, it's a drug which naturally occurs in all living things.

It's effects are rather similar to Lucid Dreams and wondered if anyone had looked into it at all.

I wondered if lucid dreaming or such "mind awake - body asleep" techniques harnessed this drug which is in our brain.

I know what DMT is, I don't know that its effects are similar to lucid dreaming though. That is, unless you dream about blasting into another dimension and meeting with intelligent alien life... well that is a possibility, I guess. Wink

Anyway, it is interesting that DMT is produced naturally in the brain. Some people believe that DMT is related with dreaming, however I have not seen any reliable information to back this up. I do know that it's found in higher levels in people with schizophrenia.

DMT is found naturally in the brain? I thought it was some kind of illegal hallucinogen from a plant that natives use for vision quests? You learn something new every day. Smile Knowing this it makes me wonder if the hallucinations from sleep paralysis might be related to this chemical being released?

It is illegal. It's a schedule 1 drug in the US. But, like Lace said, it's produced naturally in many living things.
