So this is my first time doing any of this stuff. I decided to start by first learning how to recall my dreams. Well last night I had two dreams. In the first dream I realized that something was odd, out of context, and woke up. The second dream, I realized that it wasn't real and also woke up. Is this supposed to happen? I thought when you realize it's a dream you can have control. Then again I didn't really know it was a dream I just knew it wasn't real. I have both dreams posted in the public dream journal if you want to take a look.

Thanks.

But they were just regular dreams. I wasn't in control... and they weren't very vivid. Just regular dreams. You guys say lucid dreams seem real and that you actually do reality checks? These dreams weren't even close. There wasn't much detail in them at all. Very fuzzy. Not lucid.

What's happening is not that you are becoming lucid. It is just that you lose interest, so the dream fades. If you lose interest in a dream it fades, you realizing it's not real makes you not really care anymore (At least it would for me)

That's a common thing to happen to beginners, usually due to excitement. I still experience it sometimes, myself.

Not every dream is vivid. Just because you're lucid, it doesn't mean that you're going to have some sort of crazy realistic dream that blows your mind. However, it does give you a chance to realize how realistic the dream world can get when you are having a vivid dream.
