Hi, I'm getting kind of confused with all these tutorials and they're vocabulary and i just want to clear one thing up as it's really bugging me
Recently i wake up a lot in the night SP, I either just fall back asleep or get kind of scared and break out of it. Some tutorials are telling me i can go into a lucid dream if this happens. Can anyone tell me how to do this? Thanks |

| you're referring to a WILD (Wake initiated lucid dream). I've been fortunate enough to have just one. But WILD's are the gold standard in lucid dreaming. If you can accomplish SP, then you're right on the threshold of experiencing one. There's no clearly objective way to experience one. But once in SP, you just need to concentrate entirely on maintaining some semblance of conscious awareness. That is, use your imagination to paint a scene and put yourself in it, knowing full while that you have conscious control and knowledge that whatever your are about to experience is something you will control and fully remember upon awakening. Maintain the idea that you know you are about to enter a dream and will be aware of such when you are there. Don't get scared of SP, as it is optimal for both astral experiences as well as lucid dreams...often people get frightened since SP is met with auditory hallucinations which can be quite scary at times. Actually, i've heard if you are one who does hear auditory hallucinations in SP, then you may be somewhat of a clairvoyant. |

Thanks Yeah I have had one WILD before but nowadays i find them really hard to do, probably because i can't get an alarm that turns itself off instead of me getting up to turn it off therein making awaking me I just need to tell myself that next time I experience SP that I can go into a lucid dream. I annoyingly seem to forget that I can WILD in SP. Nope no auditory ones yet though |

Well I do it a little differently, almost all of my lucid dreams have been WILDs and I had one like 2 days ago which lasted for like a day but I lost lucidity after maybe 4 hours, IT WAS AMAAZING. So I'll give you some tips.
First once you realize you're in SP, you might see or feel or experience some scary stuff, I found that if you just relax, literally, just in your mind like, "oh I dont give a sh** " and just relax, the experience becomes less intense, sometimes it just dissapears. Once I was attempting a WILD and SP happened very suddenly as soon as I entered SP the silhoutte of the chair transformed into a RING - like girl, scary stuff. But after 2 secs I realized that Im in SP and thats good, so I just relaxed, thought how Im gonna be in a lucid dream soon, and she soon just dissapeared.
Two days ago thou, I just woke up in sleep paralysis, and I started hearing some footsteps but I knew better. Just relaxed and everything was extremely peaceful, with some minor vibrations. I didn't visualize anything, I ussaully, just try to "mimic" sleeping, just staying relaxed, having the same breathing rythm and just wait until the vibrations stop.
The vibrations and hallucinations and all those crazy stuff happen because your consciousnes is changing frequences, just like you hear static on the radio before you switch stations.
So if you find yourself in SP, relax, try to stay "awake" and by that I mean, conscious, but the trick is not to try to hard, try not to get too excited, just relax and wait for the crazy stuff and vibrations and everything to stop, I would say it lasts like 5 minutes maybe but maybe Im wrong. Once the vibrations and other stuff stop, you will probably be in a lucid dream.
So try and move your arm gently, if you will that the paralysis is gone that means only 2 things. One you woke up, too bad, that means that you either got to excited and broke your sleep breathing pattern or you just moved to hard to early.
Or number 2, you are actually in a lucid dream. Now this FEELS SO REAL, cus you are in the same room and everything there is like no difference, so make sure you do a reality check even if you're sure you failed, my first time I almost went back to sleep but fortunately I said meh ill do an RC just in case, and well, glad i did lol.
Now once you actually get out of bed any everything, and you're in a dream, stay calm. Be like a poker player, be excited and happy inside but dont go crazy. And if its your first time just walk around, try to get used to being in a dream, dont try any drastic stuff.
Hope I helped you and happy dreams.
Also I think that peanuts help, so eat 2 or 3 peanuts before bed. |

Great advice thanks!
I guess my problem now is realizing I can lucid dream when im in SP as i remember a few times when I was in SP, i knew I was in bed but for some reason i was in like a half dream state at the same time if that makes any sense? I mean the 'half dream' was me being held down by people and me wanting to move and not being able to. You see it's related to the SP if you know what i mean? I guess it was the stress of it all that puts me off the attempt.
Thanks I'll remember to relax and picture my dream |

| Yea, the most notable thing I remember is how the hypnagogic imagery grew subtly more intense and vibrant. I'm convinced that hypnagogic imagery serve as a precursor to the subsequent dream imagery that you will see in a dream. When I had my first and only WILD, I pictured myself free falling from the sky. I told myself that I would feel the rush of wind passing me by as I enter the WILD. This method proved very effective...as soon as I felt that rush of wind flying past me I opened my eyes and saw myself skydiving down towards a city-scape beneath me. In this sense, that intense sensation of moving air was the catalyst for my WILD. |

Hi cronin22,
About sleep paralysis: the "people holding you down" and you not being able to move is just a typical sleep paralysis hallucination - it's the "dweller on the threshold" effect. But once you get used to sleep paralysis, and aware that you are in that state, those kinds of allucionations tend do stop happening.
As Maverick said, just stay relaxed (even if you feel the vibrations and the weird noises - I know it's strange)- Nowadays I even enjoy the state of sleep paralysis, because is relatively easy to induce a lucid dream from that state. Just do the "twin bodies" technique: imagine that you have a lighter, "twin body" (your dream body) and that you are getting out of bed in that body.
Now, what I discovered recently is that if you get the sensation of already being out of bed with your dream body but you don't see anything yet, imagine the first object that comes to your mind (in my case it was a kitchen table) and start touching that object with your hands. Like magic, a few seconds later you won't need to imagine anything anymore, because you will see yourself in the dream, fully formed, with all your senses functioning. At least, it works for me!
The other way to WILD, wich for me is harder (I succeded only once with this approach) is to actualy maintain awarenes through all the transitions to sleep, WITHOUT visualizing anything, just "going with the flow". For me, this is harder, but when it happened, it was the most amazing experience I can remember. That transition to dreaming was like entering another dimension or something...
Hope I could help.
Keep dreaming! |

Yup everyone is different, for me SP is a guaranteed LD 99% of the time, and I don't even do any visualisations or anything, I just try to stay "awake" and wait for the SP to do its thing, once it stops, 99% of the time Im in a dream even thou Im still in my room and in my bed, but after I do a reality check, hell yea! |

Alright cool thanks a lot guys!
As well do you know any relaxation techniques I could use to WILD other than not being too awake? As when I go for a WILD in the afternoon or by alarm in the night I can fell the SP travel up my feet and my legs and finally to my chest but at that point I get far too excited and my heart starts racing and the SP subsides leaving me frustrated
Any more good advice? Cheers |

| Hmm, that used to happen to me, I dont really know what can you do in that situation other then try and just go with the flow and relax as much as possible. My sp ussualy comes fast and sudden, like Im lying in my bed and suddenly my breathing gets heavier and wierd shit starts happening. |
