Hi guys!
I learned about lucid dreaming from 9gag... As it was a very popular topic over the last few weeks, and because I love these kind of topics I researched it quite a lot, but not to expreiment with it, but just because I never thought this could be done. So I read all the instructions, all the bad expiriances as well, but did not try it, as I was afraid of the bad expiriance... However, in the back of my mind, I probably would have ended up trying it anyway. The thing is, that most of the time I rarely remember any of my dreams So maybe 2-3 dreams the whole year, witch I can remember. Also, funny thing is, that when my girlfriend has a bad dream, she wakes up, and she is stressed out. But when I have a bad dream, and remember it, I wake up, and think it was cool! Although, I havent had really bad dream (where they kill one of my loved etc) for a long time, maybe when I was like 8-10 years old (I am 24 now). I just dream random stupid things, witch are scary in the dream, like getting attacked by dragons, end of the world (actually, I started to dream more and more about the end of the world not a good sign? ) but it is always fun to remember it when I wake up.
Sooo, this morning....
I woke up from a dream witch I can still remember the few last bits of, and actually I think I have dreamed this before. Never mind..
So I wake up, but didnt open my eyes, just heared the neighbor do some noise.I didnt move at all. I remembered for a second about lucid dreaming, and I told my self, that I wount try it, dont want to end up in a bad dream, etc. But somehow, it all started. I actually remember that I saw a form, that moved away from me, witch I can still remember, as I am a graphic designer, and also camera operator, editor and I also do visuals, so I can remember a lot of shapes, etc etc. It was something like this:
About the heavy blanket feeling while the dreaming is starting: I didnt get that, but I started to have goose-bumps very hardly, or at least I felt like that, it was strange. Btw, everything happened sooo fast, I couldnt even belive it, as lots of people say they can't achieve lucid dreaming at all.
At this point I was fully aware of my self, so I knew how I was laying on the bed, but couldnt move. Actually, when I wanted to move my hand, I felt it was shaking, but I guess that is only my mind playing games with me Also I remember that I opened my eye, but it wanted to close again, so it felt like it was shaking as well, but I dont remember what I saw, so I guess that was also my mind playing tricks? Btw, I didnt panicked about the whole thing, but it was freaking me out. Actually, I was afraid about all the bad expiriances, that I read about the whole lucid dreaming, but I was curious of course...
My first thought was, I dont want to do this, I want to wake up. I read that if you start breathing fastly, you start to wake up. But that didnt happen. I also read, that if you hold back breathing, you wake up, but I didnt want to try that, as I'm new to this whole thing, I dont know exactly what happens, I was afraid it will trigger a nightmare.
So then I was like, okay, let it happen, if I cant wake up, lets do it. I let my eyes fall down (witch I dont know if they where open or not, because I dont remember seeing anything, but I "tryed to open it", and than I stopped trying), and I thought, lets do a cliche thing, lets fly... And imidiatly it started to visualise in front of me, I even remember that I saw everything in my POV. So the whole scene was scaling up, and fading in from black, I started to feel the wind on my belly, it was very wierd. It looked something like this:
The road is probably there, as I am a car enthusiast.
I got extited, and didnt wait for it to fully "load", I wanted to see something else, and I guess it was way to soon, so it didnt happen, and I heard my neighbor making noises again, and I woke up.
After waking up, I still didnt want to belive that this happened. But as soon as I layed down my head again, the "goose skining" started again, so I guess I could have tried it again, but as I dont know how to wake up on purpose, I just got up instead, and right away, I fired up the computer, and drawn the shapes witch I saw at the beginning of the awareness (so excuse the poor quality.. ). I am still getting goosebumps even 30-40 minutes after the whole thing. It was quite an expiriance.
I remembered this video/dvd:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mp8cGz5IXe0&feature=relmfu
And that there was a lucid wikipedia page, so here I am.
My main questions are:
- How to make your self wake up? The breathing heavily technique didnt work sadly...
- Anybody seeing things like me? The shapes for example?
- After I woke up, I felt fresh, and very awake, which is very strange, as I always wake up very VERY badly. I'm always sleepy in the morning, and feel like... Well like shit every morning But now, I just woke up, and I was fitt. Does this happen with anybody as well?
Thanks in advance. |

Time to work on your dream recall?
I usually do NOT try to wake up from a lucid dream, but what works for me is thinking of you lying in your bed. I thought of my real body during a LD and suddenly my dream was over and I was awake! I've read on this forum that another possibility is to go to bed while dreaming, but I've never done this myself.
After waking up from a LD I am nearly always in a good mood, too. For two reasons: - I am excited that I had another LD
- I saw it coming. By that I mean that during the dream, you know that you are going to wake up. It really annoys me when an alarm or something else wakes me up when I am fast asleep. But then you are just ready to wake up. Maybe this has something to do with it?
Next time you are planning on lucid dreaming, think of the excitement you felt during the dream! Good luck |
