Hi guys

So about a month in and no lucid dreams yet Sad
but i feel like im close, everytime i attempt the WILD method i get a little closer, experience a new sensation, but still no paralysis. So what i've come to terms with is that i have a mental block and obviously its in my subconscious so i dont consciously know what it is. Does anyone know any common mental blocks and if so, and daily exercises to help get over them? I need to boost morale by having at LEAST a layer one lucid dream, so can anyone offer guidance?

thanks.

Oh im so glad im not alone then!
tried WBTB but nothing happened and its really not suited to me. WILD seems to be the only thing showing any results. However, the other day i dreamt i walked past a classroom and they were learning about lucid dreaming, KICKING myself i didnt catch on, thats why i know im close.
i hear people who have taken a few suplements have had a 90% success rate, so i may try that in order to have at least ONE lucid dream!

Are you sure about that?

We are much more in control of our body and psyche than we are sometimes lead to believe. Maybe basic bodily functions (brainstem mechanisms) are out of our conscious reach for survival purposes, but even those we can influence (biofeedback). Much of our inhibitions and limitations (a.k.a. "beliefs") are self-imposed. Due to a lack of awareness, they are sometimes really difficult to notice, let alone overcome them.

I know how you feel. I think, read and write about lucid dreaming or related subjects daily and yet there are still dreams in which I miss obvious signs. It happens and it's normal...

The trick is not to want it too much. That's probably the most common block I know. Neediness (desire) is not a good thing. Why? Because it makes you want to be in some future state, while rejecting what "is" right now. Awareness of the present moment is what lucidity is all about.

So what can you do about this? Sit down, meditate and be completely honest with yourself. Be more aware during the day (= don't cling to thoughts about the past or future) and set the clear intention to have the same level of awareness during the night. If you get caught up with your stream of thought, or your dream, without realizing it... don't worry, don't be too hard on yourself and be glad you noticed it now.

Supplements might help, but I'd recommend going for that first lucid dream "naturally". It can take a while, that's normal. Smile

Good luck!

I think you might be right about the trying too hard, because when i first heard about it and started, i saw it as a future, obtainable thing, but not somethingi could have in the present. However, i came to this conclusion and still no LD... so ill try doing insane amounts of reality checks, and see how that goes.

I feel supplements may be the way to go if i cant have one naturally, except i have NO money at the moment so thats whats keeping me from not doing it naturally!

That's awesome! Congrats!

RCs are great to remind you to be aware, but indeed, once in a dream, they don't really matter. Wink

Good luck tonight, hunter. Don't get emotionally attached to the results, but keep that excitement alive; a difficult balance to maintain, but therein lies the challenge. And remember what Yoda said: "Do or do not. There is no try." Wink

Hey, this is a very good article, actually. Only it's not like they don't matter at all (it even says so in the article). I remember feeling panically insecure many times whether or not I really AM dreaming and whether or not I really CAN let myself go. Though of course that's not what you implied, just saying.
And congratulations on your lucid dreams. I wonder whether just spending time on a forum in company of people who have succeeded can increase my success rate on its own. ^^

I would definitely agree that WBTB and reality checking are the best thing for beginners. I do continue to do some RC's throughout my LDs, especially when they get longer and longer. It just keeps me knowing what it means to be in an LD, and I can maintain control longer. Also, be sure to check any time you wake up, because the frequency of False Awakenings elevates once you begin to LD more. You can then not miss more opportunities of lucidity!
