In many of my dreams, when I am faced with something that is supposed to be a nightmare, I end up defeating it through some superhuman means. This includes punching things so hard they fly through walls, jumping ridiculously high, running along walls, flying, etc... This makes it so that nightmares are vitually impossible. Sometimes I do things superhuman even when there is no nightmare. For example: In a dream I was at school, and I demonstrated the tripple air kick that I show people occasionally. Someone asked,"Do you think you could do more kicks than that before hitting the ground?"
"I'll try," I said.
I then jumped as high as I could and found myself to be at least twenty feet in the air. I then proceeded to kick a dozen times before landing. At this point I discovered I was dreaming.
Another time, one of my friends was about to be shot. At the moment the trigger was squeezed everything went into slow motion, and I had time to save my friend.
Do you think this reveals anything about me, psychologically? If so, what do you think it reveals?

Lol thats pretty sick, about the slow motion and the kicks. And yea, im usually a superhuman as well. Doing parkour is so easy, and i can jump extremely high and land without any pain. im usually the winner of the many fights i have too. Infact just 2 days ago i had superhuman abilities to somehow 'move with momentum' and go far really quickly.

I think that the reason(for me at least) is because i am always constantly training and trying to become physically the best, so its passed on into my dreams. Who knows though, its all really interesting :]

Lately I've had superstrength in many of my non-lucid dreams.

If it says anything about the dreamer, I don't know. Maybe it's a sign of self-confidence, or maybe it's the opposite, a fulfilling of some desire (that would be a Freudian explanation I guess). In any case, if there's anyone who knows what it reveals about you, it's probably you. Razz

I too concentrate on training. I train my mind, body, and soul. I believe that only through the progressive improvement of these three aspects, one may reach one's true potential. Of course, my definition for soul might be different than the norm.

Whether it is an actual object, or a mere result of the complex network of thoughts that make up our mental processes, it does indeed exist. It is the root of our emotions, our morality, and our willpower. I find it to be the most important aspect of humanity.

Perhaps this training is one of the reasons behind our dream experience.

You make a good point there. I too immediately considered the possibility of self confidence, albeit I seem to be a bit lacking of such a thing in my waking life, and considered the possibility that it was to fulfill some desire (perhaps channel my anger.)

Maybe it stems from an inner belief of mine that is similar to that of Ernest Hemmingway. The belief that human determination and willpower can manifest more power in an individual than one has available. It allows us to break past our own limits. Surely, I don't mean to say that sheer determination and willpower can make us dodge bullets or punch through walls though. Smile

Looks like I am a minority here. I can't say I have NEVER done superhuman things in non lucids...but unfortunately mine are surely illogical, but usually stuffed with a bunch of pretty pedestrian things. My cat seems to do "supercat" things in my non lucid dreams though! LOL

That's interesting. Your cat is secretly a superhero. Cool

Generally in my dreams i either have no body at all, or i have a superhuman one. These are often the things which lead me to lucidity as both are kinda strange. When i say superhuman im not sure it is entirely accurate though, as i dont go around flying but if i am ever in a situation where i would die or feel pain i instantly develop a superhuman ability to counter it, which then causes me to be lucid as i realize i should be dead.

I find that the more I am superhuman in my lucid dreams, the more I develop the ability in my non-lucid ones. Also, when I am superhuman, I do tend to realize I'm dreaming.

Yes. I often realize that I am dreaming after such an event. But at times I am so focused on protecting my friends that I only realize after I have already done so and had some time to calm down. It is interesting the way my concentration seems to hold back the lucidity until after the threat has diminished.
