Just starting thinking about something and decided to ask you all if you experience the same thing... It kind of has to do with LDing so I decided to ask it in EDW.
My mind is never quiet, I am constantly thinking. I usually talk to myself as if I'm talking to a group of people that exist in my mind. Sometimes its a couple of faceless people - around 10-12 - and others, it's every person on the planet. They see what I see and experience what I experience but with my input and thoughts on it. So my question is, do you guys also do something like this? Do you talk to yourself as if your talking to people that live within you, or just to yourself?
Maybe this same person or people are our subconscious, or our dream characters, and they relive our thoughts during the day at night in our dreams? Idk, but I want to talk to my dream characters now and ask them if they're them. |

Yea lol well everyone talks to themselves, it's a normal human thing. But I'm mostly wondering if another person feels others in his/her mind... I know bakufun does |

Yes.
I think this is because lucid dreaming is a type of mindfulness practice. Although we aim specifically for mindfulness during the dream state, the practice naturally makes us more aware during waking life too. Our "internal realities" become more noticeable.
Most people never pay much attention to their mental state. They assume the "voice(s)" in their heads is them. In a way that's true of course, but fundamentally speaking, it's simply phenomena of the mind arising and ceasing, just like perception of the "external reality" through seeing, hearing, ... Have you ever seen the movie "Revolver"? It's exactly like that. You've found Mr. Gold.
Now we can speculate to what the sources of these thoughts are, but I doubt that it matters. Maybe they're aspects of the different personalities we constructed during our lives, maybe they manifest themselves in our dreams too like you're suggesting, maybe it's really other people's thoughts in some kind of weird quantum entangled web of information, maybe it's beings from parallel dimensions, maybe it's aliens, ... LOL. No, what matters is being aware of the thoughts. Know they are not "you".
Good topic. Nice to know I'm not the only one losing his mind.
Just kidding |

Actually, the thing that started me on Lucid Dreaming was an experience that got me researching jungian Dreamwork and Shadow Complexes. After ten years I'm pretty much convinced that my mind works as a system of distinct processes, all of which (or whom, more accurately) are personified in some way (some more than others).
They also seem a lot more fluid when it comes to their sense of self. I've seen some take in traits of others or split into multiple distinct personalities over time. This internal social landscape is very different from the same just last year or the year before that and so on.
Thanks for the topic, and for all of you who responded. I've had a pretty dull day and this picked me up right quick! |

| Yes... but it usually is only a single person and it's more as if I'm getting interviewed. It helps with my writing when I get to spread out entire ideas with the help of a little person in my head. |

| I usually talked to myself in my head. I don't like the idea that there is more than one "me" so I don't like to imagine imaginary people with my personality and thoughts. |

I know what you mean. I imagine it's some kind of low placing on the schizophrenia spectrum. _________________ La vida es sueƱo |

I talk to myself all the time. But I'm not actually talking to "myself" but to imaginary people that I invent for different purposes. They don't actually talk back ofcourse, but instead I talk for them but I usually play devil's advocate.
It's basically day-dreaming but with a goal in mind. |
