| One dream I had that I can NEVER forget happened around a year ago, long story short in the end I got really cut up and eventually bled to death, the thing is how vivid the pain was, it hurt so much! I could still feel it for a minute or two after I woke up. Has this or something like it happened to anyone else? |

I never feel pain in my dreams, and i never get hurt, lucid or not. also often i cant even feel my body so im not sure it is there (thats in normal dreams). I didnt think people would really have pain in dreams since its not a pleasurable experience. Your story shows its obviously possible but i always thought your brain would do something to save you from the pain. Is it worse pain than real life? if you have ever broken bones or anything does it compare to that? _________________ who watches the watchmen? |

I once had a very vivid dream in which my feet really hurt while walking. This was about a week after I went running with new soles in my shoes which kind of hurt, but not for long. I guess the memory of the sensation of pain was still there.
Getting cut up and bleeding to death is something else though... |

This has happened to me plenty of times, my experience of pain in dreams is always vivid and real. Not too long ago I had a dream that ended with somebody digging a dental drill into my spine, and woke up on account of the stinging that shot through my back. It didn't linger long, but for the first few seconds I felt like shouting.
I kind of envy people who can't feel pain in dreams, it sometimes keeps me from doing the reckless fun things that can only be done in a Lucid Dream. |

| I have had this happen to me. Actually it was just a few nights ago. I dreamed i had a swarm of wasps in my room and i got stung three times. The pain was like being pinched by a pair of plyers and yes it still hurt for a bit even after i woke up. It actually convinced me that i had hurt myself in my sleep and i looked for marks for about half an hour but there was nothing. So im convinced that it was the dream. I think it hurt so bad because 1. Im scared of bees(dont judge we all have our fears) and 2. Iv never been stung so i dont know what it feels like leaving my subconcious plenty of room to speculate. Either way pain or not it was a really cool dream and i think it even made me lucid for a second or so right before i awoke. |

Since people generally report texture and 'feeling' to be the most vivid sense within the dream as it's the thing achoring you to the dreamworld, pain can be quite realistic.
I've had many dreams of being stung by insects, or attacked or beaten on the head with a mailbox... I guess that pain is such a powerful stimulus in real life that our dreams have no trouble replicating the experience. If this happens during a lucid dream, find a bottle of "Insta-Heal" or "Pain-Away" pills, to trick your subconscious. |

Haha I like that Insta-Heal bottle idea. Kinda working off a placebo effect? |
