Yea says the "official" sites like that. However zolpidem (ambien) does not necessarily make you fall asleep and if you can stay awake after taking it the effects are very interesting, at least to me. Other side effects of the drug include hallucinations, altered thought patterns, euphoria and increased libido just to name a few. I have a few friends who have taken the drug specifically for sleep not knowing these other side effects and experienced effects such as ones listed above. What was even more interesting to me is that they said after they woke up (you will want to pass out about an hour or 2 after taking it) the whole "trip" felt just like a dream. One kid actually thought the whole thing was a dream! And these experiences seem to match up with other people have had such as this one. http://www.erowid.org/experiences/exp.php?ID=49983 So if knowing the side effects before taking this "sleep aid" is it possible to have a waking lucid dream?! Or what if it could aid you in your WILD tech. Imagine taking a pill and then going straight into a lucid dream. These are all reasons why I find ambien to be quite interesting and not nasty. Just looking for some feedback on anything related to it. Thanks everyone _________________ ~Dream On~ |

I am prescribed Ambien. Just got it yesterday, and took 15mg like a little less than an hour ago.
I do have a slightly dizzy/euphoric/disoriented feeling right now. I also feel a little tired too. I'm actually fighting not going and getting in the bed.
But no hallucinations as of yet. Once I get hallucinations I think I will lay down and try to wild. |

15mg! That's not good. I would advise not taking more than the prescribed dose for this medication. I take it myself. It works good for sleep if you take it as prescribed but in doses higher than the recommended dose it can become dangerous. I'm a nurse BTW. |

ambien is really fun used recreationally if you're into that sort of thing. ive only done it once. 10mg. no hallucinations, but definintely alters reality. it's very hard to explain.
oh also, memory loss. i remember looking at the clock around 12:30 then again around 3:00 as i was starting to sober up, and i had/have NO memory of what happened in between. which is a bit scary. who knows what i could've done. |

The radio show here where I live had people calling in telling them what they did when they got stoned on ambien...they had some crazy stories. _________________ d-( '-' )-b thumbs up! |

Many people say that Ambien is true helps with insomnia! But it is better to study this more before applying! Previously, I could not sleep for a long time, but after applying, I was sleeping better, but sometimes I feel tired. There is one good site about this:

You should really consult a doctor before taking any prescription drugs... they are not for everybody and if a licensed physician doesn't tell you you should be very careful.
I take Ambien as prescribed: which is whenever I can't sleep. When I do take it I don't notice any effect on dreaming... supposedly it is supposed to help you get to sleep not necessarily keep you asleep.
There have been horror stories about sleep walking/driving/eating etc. but that's why it isn't for everybody. Everyone's brain is different and the chemicals you put in them causes different effects! _________________ Never have an ordinary dream. |

| Ambien worked great at helping me fall asleep but was terrible with helping me stay asleep, which found out after 2 weeks of taking it, it is a sleep inducer. I had no other side effects other than I would only get 3-4 hours of sleep a night. |

| This thread is kind of old, but didn't want to start a new one. Does anyone have experience with taking this? I take it because it takes me forever to fall asleep sometimes. Last night it took me until 1 am to fall asleep, that was the last time I looked at the clock anyway. I layed down at 11 pm. I'm afraid it will mess up my ability to LD. But if I can't fall asleep until 1 am that also screws me over when I WBTB and WILD because I haven't had decent sleep and am not in a good REM stage when I get up to WILD. I also take anti anxiety meds, xanax, and it totally screws my dream recall, especially during afternoon sessions. I can't remember squat if I take it. At least with the ambien I am still able to remember my dreams when I wake up. Thoughts? Travel light! |
