Hi, I am a novice lucid dreamer and I have only had a couple semi lucid dreams. I have always wanted to be able to experience a vivid lucid dream so I asked a friend of mine about it.
He mentioned binaural beats as a aid in becoming lucid and I reasearched it farther. After reading about WILD and sleep paralysis, I became very eager.
Right now, the only thing holding me back is fear. I am a horribly anxious person and I don't know if I can keep calm and passively observe any hallucinations I encounter during sleep paralysis.
My questions are:
Do you usually experience hallucinations during sleep paralysis and are they terrifying?
How should I stay calm during sleep paralysis?
Thank you for your help! |

| Just remind yourself you are in sleep paralysis or trying to get there and know weird stuff happens. Don't let it get to you. Don't give off negative energy or thoughts while in sleep paralysis. I think it is fun now, but I am use to weird stuff. When you get the SP feeling and you feel that rush and your heart feels like it is beating faster I always picture myself sinking deeper into where I am laying. This also seems to let my mind go deeper and start forming the dream or sometimes Id just pop awake in the setting I fell asleep in, which can be very confusing but that is another topic. |

It really depends on how much you desire to lucid dream. If the desire is greater than your fear, then you're good with techniques such as WILD. _________________ "I and me are always too deep in conversation: how could one stand that if there were no friend? Think of it this way: the scarier it is, the more you learn to calm yourself down and reinforce your courage.
EX.: My first SP hallucination was a burglar that climbed in the window and tried to suffocate me. But after I pointed out the fact that he climbed in on gap of 5 cm his voice became so goofy that he had to escape and climbed back out the same way he came in so I cracked up in laughter and woke myself up.
Keep your thoughts positive, is all I'm saying.
EDIT:It's not guaranteed that you'll have hallucinations, but if you expect them to come it is more likely. And even if you have them, they don't have to be scary. After a while you'll get bored of them. _________________ How can truth exist if everything we live by is an interpretation? |

No, at least not the scary types of hallucinations you hear about.

Sleep paralysis is just a natural process that's meant to protect you from hurting yourself. Thinking about that usually keeps me calm.
I feel like sleep paralysis has an undeserved bad reputation. A small portion of people have problems with it, but for most, it's no big deal. Instead of being afraid, try to enjoy it! It's actually a pretty cool experience. _________________ Are you dreaming? |

Sleep paralysis varies from individuals. The sleep paralysis I had gotten so far from WILD isn't frightening, it usually comprises of whole body vibrations and nothing more than that.
I say, you should give it a try and see how it goes. Just remember, nothing is going to hurt you, if anything scary tries to scare you, you can always get your revenge back when you are successful in WILD and gotten lucid. |

Sleep paralysis is a perfectly normal thing. When you go to sleep your body enters it to stop you from acting out your dreams. That part I know.
I think that you enter it when you wake prematurly. That is the disorder. That part i'm not sure about though.
Lucid dreams use sleep paralysis during wild as a springboard to get a lucid dream. Your body falls alseep but your mind stays awake. I hope this helped... |

Sleep on your side because 75% of people who get sleep paralysis sleep on their back.. |
