|
|
Hey,
I've become lucid 3 times now and I always did it by questioning if the things I did or happened were logical. Then I always push my fingers through my hand and I become lucid. But the problem is the moment I realize that I'm dreaming I get a tingling sensation all over my body and everything starts to get really really bright and eventually I see nothing anymore and everything is just white and then I wake up. This has happened every single time I became lucid. Ok granted, I get a little excited, but it's not that I can't control myself... I even don't get the chance to calm myself, the moment I know I'm dreaming everything becomes white very fast and a few seconds later I wake up.
Any thoughts on what's happening here? |

Do you consciously decide to wake up because the dream fades or does it happen out of your control?
When you notice the dream starts to fade (well, gets more bright in your case), do you try to fight it? How? |

It's out of my control, I absolutely don't want to wake up.
I never really tried to fight it, it all happens so quickly. Before I really know what's happening I'm already awake.
Do you think it's possible that the brightening is because of the brightness in my room. The times I became lucid it was always very light already, should I maybe darken my room more?
But I don't think it explains the waking up, because I know you can easily have a lucid dream when doing an afternoon nap in full daylight |

I can't think of anything, it is odd. Maybe it's because you expect to wake up when lucid. In the lucid dreaming world there is a kind of rule that everyone that has their first lucid dreaming experience becomes too excited and wakes up. But that isn't true. I never had that problem.
A lot of people encountered this problem and maybe you are starting to expect the dream to dissolve.
Good luck! _________________ Fantasy is endless |

That does sound very likely!
I think i do indeed worry too much that I'll wake up whenever I get lucid and therefore I unconsciously expect it to fade away.
Maybe I should worry less about waking up and just let it happen.
Thanks for the tips! |

| When you realized that you were dreaming then you have to do some reality checks. So that you can continue your lucid dream. |

Yes i know, but it happens almost at the same time i'm pushing my fingers through my hand, so it's not like I lose my consciousness.
But I can't seem to stabalize my dream and I don't even get the chance to.
I thought the dream was supposed to clear, but instead the opposite happens and it instantly starts to fade away... |

Funny how you're giving yourself the advice in this thread. See, you don't need us, all the answers are within.
I suggest simply more practice, but getting lucid in itself is already a major leap forward. |

Haha, maybe I was looking more for confirmation than actual advice.
But I also just wanted to find out if it's normal that I get a tingling sensation all over my body and everything immediately starts fading away in a bright light when I get lucid, because I never read or heard anything about that.
Apparently it's not very common and it's just me.
But thanks for all the help anyway! |

Well, the tingling sensations and the increasing vividness and brightness of the dream are very common at the moment of lucidity. However, usually it "settles" at some particular level of dream clarity (if the dreamer doesn't get overexcited and wakes himself up). After this, you can do whatever until the dream starts to blur and eventually fades out into darkness. So your experience is a little peculiar.
Maybe it's just a combination of lucid excitement and the light in your room. Try some more and report back to us |

| Yes I also thought that could be a reason, I was just very surprised it went all so fast. I'll certainly report back when I've had another lucid experience! |

I remember my first lucid dream, the same thing happened to me although i got pushed into a wall by a great force and everything was white. I could also hear myself breath heavily.
