Hello. I'm a 22 year old female into art, reading, and writing. I also dream a lot. I'd say that I likely remember around 3 dreams a day on average, and I often dream much more. (Occasionally I remember one dream, though it's usually many different events taking place in one general location).

My dreams are also very vivid. I'm guessing this is because I read lots of big and small fantasy books at a young age, have always been into art, etc. Lucky me. In addition, my dreams have very few plot holes, despite the fantastical nature of some. I learned to fly in my dreams through a sequence of dreams when I was younger (4-10 years old) and now my brain registers it as a completely natural activity for it to do inside lots of dreams. Other people in my dreams react when I start flying--which apparently isn't always the case (from talking to friends).

Anyways, basically, I'm enjoying my dreams. I've only recently started to occasionally write them down as well. The main appeal for them is that I get to make decisions in a different world while feeling that that world is real.

Apparently the very definition of lucid dreaming would ruin this, yet even though I can control my daydreams (which are also very vivid), I'm wondering if I'm still missing out? And if not, is there any way to stop lucid dreams from happening? Razz

Why would I want to even start is part of what I'm asking. I've yet to see stuff about lucid dreams that I couldn't do in a daydream.

As for my regular dreams, I love being able to go to another world and react as if I'm actually in that world--not as if it's a dream. I'd think that knowing it's a dream would take the fun out of it for me, since then I wouldn't think it's real.

However, maybe the apparent benefits of lucid dreaming outweigh the loss of 3 lifelike experiences every night. I don't think so, but I wouldn't mind being proven wrong, or shown how I can have both.

Believe me after 5-6 years of regular dreams it's kinda blah now. If I could lucid dream more I would love it Smile because I could be like "Oh I'm dreaming, now what was it that I wanted to do in my dream that I thought up in real life?" Yeah thinking that it's a dream but still kinda feeling that it's real is still fun I've been doing it through most of my life. But at least if I could just lucid dream but not really completely focus on the point that on dreaming but still know it would be nice like "Oh I'm dreaming, Ok that's cool, Now what do I want to do?" U know like I know I'm dreaming and take notice of it but don't pay way to much mind toward it but still use the knowing of I'm in a dream to go where I want more exact and probably be able to practice my dream commands and stuff but when I lucid dream I always focus on trying to ace 1 thing in my dream sense I now know I'm in 1 but it doesn't really work probably cuz I know my dream will end soon cuz I'll be waking up but whatever. Anyway if u choose between controlling yourself like a boss or having ur dreams be as clear or almost as clear as real life choose ur dream being clear. Yeah controlling yourself is cool but having ur dream be clear is just sooo much better. But yeah u would say whats the point of ur dream being clear when u can't control youself so yeah I see a point in that. Smile
