I had my first lucid dream this mornin. I've been trying for a little less than a month. So heres the non lucid and lucid part.

(Non lucid)
I am in a large room that is on the bottom of the ocean. Made mostly of metal. I am looking out the door, and there seems to be a wall of water for a door. I step through, and the scene is incredible! There are hundreds of weird looking creatures I have never seen before swimming around. The water is very clear and blue, and there is white sand at the bottom. At first I am scared to go in, but I soon urge myself to do it. There is another room to the left about 100 feet away that looks the same as the previous room. I swim towards it, which proves quite difficult, as it feels like there is a current pushing against me. But I make it somehow to the other door. Later on, I find myself back in the other room, and find people are talking about currents that are able to carry you to wherever you want in the ocean. I remember someone saying to be careful, as there could be a current that can pull you right to the ocean surface. So I step through the water door again, and start swimming. Its much easier, but soon the current pulls me up. I am being pulled upwards very fast, and in a matter of seconds I am at the surface. I look around, the sky is clear and sunny, the water looks the same as it did below. But I dont want to be here, so I teleport to the bottom. I am back in the room. I wake up soon after.

(Lucid)
I fall back asleep and find myself in the same environment. I am in the second room on the ocean floor. The door opens and i can see most of the creatures are gone. As I step out i immediatly realize that I'm dreaming! I try pushing my finger through my hand. It works. My vision is sort of blurry because of the water. But its fading away. I try to open my eyes so I can see, but I wake up.

End of dream

Ok so I want to know why I woke up. Maybe becuase of the sun in my room? This was around 10am.

Congratulations Carson on your first lucid dream!

It is quite an amazing experience when you have your first lucid dream, isn't it?

I believe the reason you woke up immediately after experiencing lucidity is because your conscious mind got too excited too soon.

The next time you experience lucidity in your dream and you feel that it is fading away, try to spin your dream body around and make yourself dizzy. You could also try rubbing your hands together, but I find this technique to be a little less effective.

The reason this works is because sensory engagement seems to discourage the brain from changing state from a dreaming state to an awakened state.

I hope this helps Carson.

Congrats on the 1st LD!

I remember when I had mine, I was so excited I woke up.
I did this several times to the point where I the next time i became lucid I thought "ahh screw it. Im gonna wake up anyways...."

So I just went with the flow and the dream progressed quite nicely!

Hi Carson!

I'm new here aswell here! My name is Carl and I'm 20 years old and from Sweden! Smile I had almost the same thing as you yesterday!

I think it was my first. I was hanging around with a couple of guys in the street on a bench and the two other guys (I don't know who they were, but they were my friends in the dream) they wrote short sentences with black ink on yellow paper and showed them to me. After awhile I asked them to write "Am I Dreaming?" on one of them. So they did, and showed me (almost as if they were asking)
That's when I realized I was dreaming. And I felt my head was spinning and then everything (I think, memory kinda blurry here) went grey and I woke up. At least that's what I thought.
I woke up, but was still dreaming and then continued to dream as usual. Almost as if my mind was pushing the "reset" button.
Anyway, I continued with a dream, and then I tried to wake up, I got up and walked around the apartment, but I was too sleepy so I continued to sleep, and then got back in that very SAME dream I had before I waked up!

It was very confusing, but in a good way! So that's why I signed up, and straight away I read this post Carson, that I thought was very similar to mine! Smile

Anyway! Great to be here, I shall read and get more into lucid dreaming!

/Carl
