I think that the past night I finally had my first lucid dream. It was a dream induced lucid dream and I did a reality check and I recognized I was dreaming. I spun in circles and all that and the dream became pretty vivid. I touched stuff and I flew and when I flew I got the excitement of flying and it was great. However, at the same time, or at least from what I remember, felt as if it wasn't lucid and the dream was a movie I was watching. This morning, when I woke up, I had a great recollection of the dream. I was going to write it down but I was in the mood where you wake up and you only wake up halfway by the time you smash the alarm clock to make it shut up. So upon waking up 3 hours later, I had forgotten the details of the dream. Now my question is, do you think that I am not remembering how lucid I was? Because I'm thinking that I'm recalling it as being not so lucid because I didn't recall it fully when I first woke up. I can still, however, remember the complete joy in my body as I sprang up into the air, and I can remember how real everything I touched felt. Sorry if this isn't making much sense. It's really had to describe.

Don't worry, this is common amongst dreamers when they have their first intentionally induced lucid dream (to be honest I don't know why, can anyone offer some insight there?)

What you said about the possibility of poor dream recall is also a valid point; it is almost certain that if you gave an effort to recall it better when you first awoke, you would be able to remember it much clearer.

So chances are, if you think you were lucid and you really felt that excitement, you probably were lucid.

Congrats! Very Happy

It was obviously a lucid dream. Like dylan said, that's very common in your first few lucid dreams - I've had some that, in hindsight, were amazing dreams, but when I woke up, I didn't find them amazing at all. The excitement vanishes when you wake up to reality.

I know well when you wake up, you don't feel like writing down a long dream, you just want to sleep. Next time remember how much you'll wish you had written it down. Write down a few keywords or places you visited, the details will come to you. Try to capture the excitement of the dream in the text while you still can, it's the first thing to disappear in the morning. Wink
