Or even more so; do people who are blind dream AT ALL?

What do they see?!

I would think that blind people don't see in dreams, but they can use their other senses just like real life. I think this because if you don't see in real life your body can't use real experiences as to what you see to create a dream world.

And if blind people could see in their dreams then they would know what it's like to see. That would be like twisting the knife in their wound Sad

If they once had sight they probably would and if they were born blind I'd imagine they may just get vague stuff like swirly colours.

Dream Cream- I absolutely agree. But come to think of it this way.

Our nature, of human beings, blind or not blind, is that we want more an more. Its hard to agree with, but its the truth.
To escape this nature, you must recreate your lifestyle, generaly theories we make every day, and sort of change our nature
to more "civilized" of a human, so to speak.

Budhist monks were able to do this- they lived for the indulgence of having more knowledge and wisdom- rather than the indulgence
of having cool experiences in life to happen again.

What I am getting at, is a blind person, who would be able to limit their need for seeing because seeing isn't all that important
(its special, but you can live without it- and live happy) if they would be able to limit their need, and promise themselves
that if they start seeing it as only a miracle and must be respected.

What I mean is; if they see in dreams, (or visualize in dreams), they will be able to respect this occurance, and not be saddened
by the fact they can't do this in waking life. They would be happy on the contrary, because here is something wonderful that they
can experience. Its like a present- if you get all the things you wanted for your birthday (when an adult of course) you must not wish
for more presents; rather, you must be happy you got any.

ftcollin: IT IS NUTS!!! ITS INSANE! All they do is connect a few wires to your brain fibres, and hope for a miracle.

But yes. Coming to think of it, this will introduce a new dimention of spying etc. I am assuming if this becomes possible,
10 years after that, some people would be walking around with chips in their brain and won't know about it.

The technology (as far as I know) was so far tested on a cat. IN 1997 THEY WERE ABLE TO TAKE PICTURES OF WHAT THE CAT SEES!
Assuming that was 1997, this is 2010, and they can probably now record video, and with more clearity.

However, I don't think it is able to "interpret" it like our brain. From what I remember, they scientists hooked up (1997) to
only a few brain fibres, so the picture was black and white, and un-clear. I am aware of the concept that people take colors differently
so I don't really know..... but possible, if the cat would have gotten hooked up to more wires (poor kitty Sad ) then we would see
the colours EXACTLY as the cat sees them. So yes, we would be able to see a comparison between the cat's brain interpretation of the color,
and the actual color in real life.

HAHAHA! NICE ONE ABOUT THE CIA! HAHA!

Oh, really? So blind people don't really see?

ftcollin, that is a perfect image of what I wish I could dream about .This is so inspiring- you have no idea.
I WOULD LOVE do experience this. It sounds so beautiful- like a neglected paradise that you get to run around and enjoy for yourself....
its the beauty of nature, and as you called it- Heaven.

I just realize that all this is tied to where I live. Canada (Where I live now) and Israel (where I am from) had AMAZINGLY beautiful sights.
I can't believe I didn't/don't take advantage of them and enjoy them. Maaaannn...

Beautiful dream ftcollin- very interesting, vivid, wonderful, gaaaahhh I can't describe it or the feeling of excitement you post brought to me.

Thank you so much ftcollin. Thank you, with all due honesty.

joethfc- that is a very good possibility. But it still would bring the person so much appreciation and happiness.....

With this new technology, we are able to RECEIVE images from the brain. Can you now imagine, if we would be able to SEND images to the brain?

I believe the eye connects via a few brain fibers to the brain image control center (wherever it is if it exists) and communicate.

So I guess hooking up a wire to these fibers, and sending a picture, COULD potentially work.

And now for the beautiful/creepy/insane part of this:

Camera's in the user's eyes sending video to the brain. The true solution to blindness.
