Had a daytime REM dream during nap, can someone interpet?
Title: Future Shock
Date: 1/22/12
Time: 5:30pm
Dream started out with me inside some open air bunker and a couple of guys outside it, sitting on chairs watching tv (old style tv oddly). I asked them if it was okay to come out since I was bored and the one old guy said yes but for you, only a little bit because of your skin would fry due to the Earth being scorched. I got out and sat next to him and said, "Huh?", he explained the sun grew in size and doubled the temputures on the planet and most people did die but a few managed to survive. He took me for a ride in a car, it drove sideways and had no doors. He said it was the year 2035, and civilization was rebuilding itself over time. We got out and went into some kind of rec hall, and a greeter waved, who had the same voice as my doctor but white Village of the Damned style hair. We kept going, the place was a throwback of the 60's with most things being wooden or metal.
At this point of the dream, I woke up in waking life so I lost out on the ending of it. Sad.

You worrie too much about future/past and specially dooms day.
Relax. Rest. Enjoy life- Live in the moment, in the now. You will survive. This is the message from your subconscious - that knows what best for you.
You are special. Thats also in the message. |

I don't think dreams mean anything unless you ascribe a meaning to them, so it's up to you to interpret your dreams. _________________ Quare? Quod vita mea non tua est. |

Maybe I should add that this interpretation has a psycological point of view. The effect of the dream was that you got to feel safe from the threat of some major disaster.
You mention the future, which many of us worry about to some degree. There is the fear.
Old style tv and ref to 1960 - times when there were lots of turbulence in the world.
The sun - the sun is a great power that influence all of us - is shines on all of us... so that kind of danger we are talking about.
And as I dont believe in magic, I think the dreams has the purpose to benefit our mental and fysical health.
So the concluion is that you got a (rather) good nights sleep and woke up feeling that you would probably survive in a disaster, feeling I say, but I mean of course in a quite subconscious kind of way.
Feeling ok.... I mean.
Older symbolic interpretationtechnique would probably say exactly the same - but since I want to keep away from magic thinking - I prefere to look at dreams the way a psycotherapist would. |

It's a prophecy!!!!! The sun is gonna explode in 2035 and fry us all, except the lucky few! Start prepping your bunkers! The 1960s tv's are gonna be the only ones that will work then cuz they had tubes in them. The tubes are impervious to high levels of solar radiation but modern digital tv's will get fried. Better load up on all the vhs tapes and canned food you can find.
Haha but seriously...that sounds like a pretty cool dream. Try thinking about how you felt in the dream. Were you scared? worried? calm? confused? Maybe that will give you more clues about it's meaning. |

I agree, it's just a case of knowing yourself better so you become better at understanding certain symbols. _________________ La vida es sueƱo |

Its just as possible to interpret dreams as it is to find whats wron in a theraphy session but TLS is righ, the only one that can confirm or deny interpretations is you.
And dreams of course is seldom or never profetical or precognitive.
Its only possible to get interessting stuff out of dreams - through a discussion - and actually the discussion is the interessting part, where you can learn something about yourself. So now its up to you. |
