|
|
Hello,
When I become lucid I almost always experience fear.
Its so great that I either force myself to wake up or just wake up naturally. Im not sure what causes it. I realise that being lucid means I can take control of my dream and nothing can harm me yet I cant seem to get past this.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to move forward? Or have you experienced this yourself? |

You must practice control. I am sorry if such advice doesn't really help much, but it is all you can do. Know that it is your dream space and nothing can cause you harm within it. Expectation is what powers a dream. Shift your expectations from fear to enthusiasm, and you change the atmosphere of your dream in entirety. The dream space is your reality and no one else's. You are in command there. If you let the dream win, it is actually the same as you beating yourself. Don't beat yourself up. Practice being confident, even if you have no self confidence in your waking life. If none of this works you might try this particular train of thought:
"If this fear wants to get me than let it. I won't let it break me and wake me up. If it wants me it's going to have to put up a fight. And if it spawns any enemies, I'll fight them all. Even if I lose, I will give them a fight before I go."
Use sheer willpower to overcome your problems. You must believe that you have an indomitable spirit. Don't let your own unconscious mind batter you around. You control it. The subconcsious and unconsciou are under your command.
I sincerely hope this helps. _________________ "Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night."-Edgar A. Poe |

Sometimes when I think about becoming lucid (in waking life) I get a fearful feeling and feel kind of 'scared' about becoming lucid. Im not sure why. When I actually do become lucid though, I feel no fear at all, opposite of my waking life thoughts. In fact in my LD today I tried to speak to a Tree my friend and I always used to talk about. I told him i'll ask the tree what its name is the next time im lucid. In waking life the thought of this seemed scary(only before I sleep), again i dont know why, but in my dream it wasnt, and I did the ask the tree its name. I got no reply but I might sometime in the future |

I know what you mean. Just confront the fear over and over again. Eventually you'll get used to the feeling and it will disappear.

Yes, I think the fear is most prominent in becoming lucid, not in actually being lucid. Usually I'm fearless in normal LDs, but in WILDs it's different. I have it in waking life too.. weird thought patterns arise and I freak out a little, but then I realize everything is ok
Oh and you talk about trees in waking life and you talk to trees in your LDs? Lol whatever you're smoking, I want some of that |

Haha xD
Well its like a willow tree that me and my friend always sit under and just talk about life. We philosophize, theorize, teach and learn, train etc. One day I started tugging on a branch or something, and he said stop the tree doesnt like it as a joke. I then said how do you know and I said the tree told me it liked it, so we jokingly argued about it and I decided to just ask the tree for real in a lucid dream. Then it went to somehow asking the tree what its name was I'm still awaiting an answer lol, should be interesting. |

I love willow trees. They're actually my favorite type of tree. _________________ "Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night."-Edgar A. Poe |
