Hey everyone.
Just getting back into Lucid Dreaming, after failing miserably for a while.. I had something amazing happen to me before I slept a couple nights ago so I thought I'd come back to these forums and see what you all think.

So basically as I was going to sleep, I was just doing a basic method of meditation which is.. Counting my breaths to 4, then repeating for as long as I can. Doing this for a while lead to what looked like I was running through a valley, then shortly after that I was flying through space, through this votext type of thing, trying to make it to the portal at the end to where I was assuming the lucid dreaming would happen. I kept getting massive flashes of light every 5 seconds or so which progressively got brighter as I got closer to this 'portal'. In the meantime I could physically feel my mind opening, which felt unreal! Also my whole body felt amazing, I can't even explain it.

I felt like this whole thing was the closest I've ever been to lucid dreaming, and may just need that little bit of extra advice from someone who may have had similar happenings.
I think what stopped me from actually reaching the portal was my own thoughts about what was actually happening, trying to bring it on even further, when I think I should have just kept concentrating on my breathing and counting them to 4 etc..

What's your opinion on all this?

Thanks

Shane

I forgot to add that last night I attempted this again and was struggling to focus and couldn't even bring on anything remotely close to the night before :/

You should realize that lucidity is a property of the dreamer, not the dream. Lucid dreaming doesn't happen, YOU are lucid. You are the agent.
