|

Hey guys,
I want to start an OBE. However, I am kind of afraid of sleep paralysis. I never experienced it before. I did in depth research on it and know all its signs what you can and cannot do and how to wake up.. My questions are:
1) Dont you HAVE to undergo sleep paralysis when you want to start an OBE?
2) If you are undergoing sleep paralysis what are some ways to make you calm and just not be afraid of the figure in front of you? I mean can your mind turn it into something funny instead of scary?
EDIT:
Would you recommend an OBE for a person with no experience with LDing (Didnt have one LD until now) ? |

As for the sleep paralysis, not necessarily. You can induce OBEs through the use of WILDs. When you pass from the hypnagogic state into the dream state, do not come up with a setting for your dream. In most cases this forces your mind to resort to the last waking life setting it remembers (your bedroom) thus inducing an OBE. You can also have OBEs without even trying. Some occurr unintentionally. It is, of course, also possible to enter OBE from sleep paralysis. Some people say that they imagine sliding out of themselves to initiate it.
As for the not fearing sleep paralysis, simple awareness prevents fear. After I figured out what sleep paralysis was, it no longer scared me. It would happen and I would just think, "I must be in sleep paralysis."
Note that being aware of sleep paralysis does not always eliminate the effects. Even after I knew I was in sleep paralysis I still felt like I was being crushed and strangled. So if the effects don't go away, don't be afraid. It seems the hallucinations of sleep paralysis are much more difficult to control than those of ordinary dreams.
I would say that practicing OBEs is fine for anyone, inexperienced or not. And your lucid dream rate does not matter at all. Why would that be a factor.
Just keep at it, and tell us when you get an OBE. _________________ "Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night."-Edgar A. Poe |

Well i guess for that the best thing is not to panic and take it easy, Obviously when someone is sleeping they well react badly but the best thing to do in this condition is taking it easy.I guess there is no medication for that may be doctor can something on it.
