Hi
so i just thought id ask...
the way i journal my dreams might be a tad different to everyone else, what i do is i record myself saying the dream first thing in the morning, becuase its WAY easier, and later on i transcribe them on my computer, type them up all parts included and note my dream signs.
my question is, is this technique ok to do, or should i have a dream journal, because i dont want people reading all my intimate thoughts! so maybe im not journalling right and thats why i havent had a lucid dream yet... |

Yeah, that's great. I just take a couple of notes in the morning and then work them out and put them in my dream journal on the site later during the day. _________________ Quare? Quod vita mea non tua est. |

I do the same and it's perfectly fine. I try to make some notes while recording, but usually I'm just too tired
Just don't delay typing out the reports. I tend to procrastinate this often and I quickly end up with 60+ minutes of voice recordings left to be transcribed. Sigh... |

| In my experience, writing diary is very important since you can notice patterns in your dreams and it will be much easier to recognize them later. |

Sometimes I use the same method you're using.
The first thing I try to do in the morning when I wake up is recording in my cellphone everything I remember about the dream(s) I had, or just write in a sheet of paper close to me. Write it sometimes seems hard and confusing, because you're still sleepy.
I bought the notebook for my journal, but I'm using Lucidipedia instead.
Writing must be very helpful, because it reinforces the fact that you can recall your dream properly.
I'm new at this so I can switch from one way to another. I guess it will happen untill I find out what's the best way for me to improve my dream recall. |

I find journaling to be very significant to dream recall. If you want my advice, don't just keep everything on lucidipedia. I only use this site as an archive for my dreams since I usually can't read my handwriting from dreams I've scribbled down early in the morning and in the middle of the night. Writing it all down in a notebook first thing in the morning is the way to go since the action of writing it generates better dream recall :3 _________________ Lucidipedia, the helpdesk for your brain |

I think ZombieBrain is right when he says that we should use notebooks and not only Lucidipedia. My project is to transcript what I've posted here to to the notebook I bought. I just haven't done it (so bad). As I say, I just have started with the discipline of improving dream recall.
I recognize that if I write my dreams everyday when I wake up, I'll be creating a habit, a good one, and eventually dream recall would be natural.
So, I think that dream journaling is not exactly necessary, but is extremely helpful. No doubt about it. |

While we're on the subject of discipline...
http://www.lucidipedia.com/blog/2012/02/24/maintain-dream-journalling-discipline/ could come in handy.
I can read my handwriting fine during the day. I don't think it's much of a problem that I use Lucidipedia exclusively. What's more of a hindrance, though, is that I journal late at night. _________________ Quare? Quod vita mea non tua est. |
