Hi, I'm very new to SP and an amateur lucid dreamer. I was just wondering how necessary SP is to Lucid dreaming in regards to WILD. Bottom line is, I don't prefer to experience SP because of the ominous testimonies of so many people. I tried to do a WILD last night and was semi?-successful in SP. Long story short, I heard a very deep voice that said "TONY!..." I was definitely paralyzed but don't recall visualizing much except for a quick opening of my eyes. So I wiggled my toes and then escaped SP. I was a little spooked so I just tried to normally fall asleep. I think it's noteworthy that I wasn't scared out of my mind, but just freaked out and I knew I was under SP(wiggling of the toes).

So I guess my question is do I need to experience SP in order to do WILD or MILD?

For MILD? Nah. You better get used to them if you want to do WILD though. I think SP is a big part of the WILD technique.

I don't think it's necessary at all. In fact, I very rarely go through SP while WILDing and even if I do, I know what's happening, so no big deal. Just stick to the techniques; eventually you'll get used to the experience and you'll learn how to leverage an SP situation into an LD. You kind of have to go through the scary parts and know it isn't real, there's no other way. Smile

Of course you could stick to MILD, DILD, ... maybe in combination with WBTB, but you'll miss all the WILD fun then. Razz
