Wake Back To Bed WBTB technique
Learning lucid dreaming constitutes three basic steps: (1) recall dreams, (2) discover dreamsigns and (3) recognize dreamsigns.

These three lessons consist on their part of three dimensions: (a) mind, (b) body and (c) heart. The resulting "matrix" covers 9 cells in total that represent 9 steps constructed exclusively on the basis of one of the most effective lucid dream techniques around: the Wake Back To Bed technique (WBTB) or the Napping Technique as The Lucidity Institute calls it.

In addition to this key technique, the matrix completes itself with supplemental tips and tricks based on my own experience, addressing not only the mind as the primary focus of attention but also integrating the body and heart to the effectiveness of the program. To my experience, you'll get lucid dreams the quickest when you use your include your whole body to induce lucid dreams rather than just the mind.

In this video I introduce you to the Wake-Back-To-Bed technique and give a summary of its execution. Aim is to stay awake for about 30 to 90 minutes, rehearsing your lucid dream and dreamsign recognition, to then go to bed again and fall asleep while visualizing yourself becoming lucid in the last dream you can remember.

WBTB technique

The WBTB-technique recommends you to go to sleep at a usual bedtime, wake yourself up one hour earlier than normal, recall dreams, discover dreamsigns contained in those recalled dreams and going to bed again at the time the 60 minutes are up (the time that you would normally have woke up): delaying your original last-hour of sleep with one hour. Interrupting your morning sleep this way, enhances your chances of reaching lucidity like 20 times. By using the WBTB-technique you can induce lucid dreams virtually at will.

Apply this technique whenever you want or start practicing the individual cells separately or sequentially. No dogma here. Some might like to start with cell 1 right away, while others prefer to practice other cells first. Either way, the most important thing is to enjoy the process and keeping in mind that the effectiveness of the Lucidipedia Matrix lies in its overall structure. Utilizing its true effectiveness is walking through each step sequentially rather than only practicing a few isolated cells.

The WBTB-technique requires you to have some room in the morning to execute your delayed nap. This most likely means you have to plan those WBTB attempts in the weekends for practice. Be sure you have the time and room to regularly apply all the techniques comfortably without anyone or anything disturbing you. It would only take a couple of successful attempts before you start incorporating the techniques to a level at which you don't exclusively have to use the WBTB-technique to induce lucid dreams anymore.

For training purposes it is OK to practice each cell/step in the Lucidipedia Matrix separately. But remember that applying all these steps sequentially as one WBTB procedure, really empowers their shared purpose as one lucid dream induction approach.

Visualize YOUR lucid dreams

It is very important you have an idea of what you want to do specifically when you become lucid. Why are you motivated to have lucid dreams in the first place? What are you planning to do when your first lucid dream arrives?

Most student lucid dreamers fail having lucid dreams because they strive for 'lucid dreams' instead of an 'experience' that they would like to have by USING a lucidity as a vehicle for realizing that experience. This failure is based on the fact that the mind cannot focus on such an empty concept like a 'lucid dream'. What does a lucid dream look like? It depends on what you want to dream about. Meeting a friend, flying like you favorite superhero, visiting another planet or overcoming fears.

So be sure you have an idea of what you want to do at the moment you become lucid. Be as specific as possible. Draw a picture of it, watch related movies or listen to music that inspires you to execute that particular lucid dream.
